Calico UK’s MD Kirsty Pryer welcomed apprentice Cameron Dunn to the company’s Cromarty office today.

Cameron, 17, is on a Foundation Apprenticeship in ICT and hardware system support at the UHI while also doing Higher english, history and graphic communications at Fortrose Academy. Although Calico UK has offered various work experience placements over the years, Cameron is the first apprentice to work with the company.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team at Calico,” said Cameron. “So far the company has been fantastic.”

Kirsty said “It’s great to have the opportunity to help one of the UHI’s students in this way, and to pass on some of our expertise. As a STEM Ambassador, I’m keen to encourage young people in the Highlands to follow career paths into the technology sector.”

Cameron will be working at Calico one day a week for the next 15 months to gain work experience.
