How to Access Softaculous in cPanel?

Access Softaculous from inside cPanel by logging in and opening Softaculous Apps Installer from the Tools page. You can search for it or find it under the Software section. Use Single Sign-On from the Client Area if you do not have your cPanel password.

Open Softaculous from inside cPanel. Log in to cPanel, then on the Tools page click Softaculous Apps Installer under Software or type “Softaculous” into the search bar and select it.

Before you start

  • You need an active Hostworld cPanel web hosting or reseller account. Softaculous is inside cPanel, not in Virtualizor.
  • If you do not know your cPanel password, you can use Single Sign-On from our Client Area at portal.hostworld.uk.
  • If Softaculous is not enabled on your server you will not see it. We can enable it for you.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

From the Hostworld Client Area (Single Sign-On, no cPanel password needed):

  1. Go to portal.hostworld.uk and log in.
  2. Go to Services, then My Services.
  3. Click your hosting service, then click Log in to cPanel.

Or with your cPanel username and password:

  1. Visit https://yourdomain:2083 and sign in. Replace “yourdomain” with your actual domain.

Step 2: Launch Softaculous

  1. On the cPanel Tools page in the Jupiter theme, use the global search at the top. Type “Softaculous”, then select Softaculous Apps Installer. Or scroll to the Software section and click Softaculous Apps Installer.
  2. cPanel opens the Softaculous end‑user panel. You can browse and install applications here. If you plan to manage WordPress via Softaculous, open WordPress Manager inside Softaculous. This is different from cPanel’s WordPress Toolkit.

Step 3: Return to cPanel (undo)

  1. To go back to cPanel, use the link or icon to cPanel in the Softaculous header if it is present, or use your browser’s Back button. Leaving Softaculous does not change anything on your site.

If it does not work

  • You cannot see Softaculous in cPanel: In the Jupiter theme, third‑party plugins can be hidden or not added. Use the search bar for “Softaculous”. If it is still missing, we need to enable it. Please open a support ticket.
  • You cannot log in to cPanel: Use Single Sign-On from the Client Area: Services, My Services, your hosting service, Log in to cPanel. If that fails, open a support ticket so we can check your account.
  • You opened the wrong tool: WordPress Toolkit in cPanel is not Softaculous. If you specifically want Softaculous, go back to the Tools page and open Softaculous Apps Installer, then use WordPress Manager inside it.
  • Already in Softaculous and worried about data loss: Do not enable “Overwrite Files” when installing unless you intend to replace existing files. To undo, cancel the install and choose an empty directory. When removing an installation, untick options to remove the files, database and database user if you do not want them deleted.

What next

Now you are in Softaculous, you can install WordPress or another app. If you run into anything unclear or the icon is not there, open a support ticket and we will check the server configuration for your account.

If you were actually looking for VPS management tasks, those live in Virtualizor rather than cPanel. See our VPS guides for the right tools and next steps.

Common questions

Is Softaculous included with all Hostworld cPanel accounts?

Softaculous appears in cPanel when it is enabled for your account. If you do not see it after searching in the Tools page, it may be hidden or disabled on the server. Please open a support ticket and we will enable it if applicable to your plan.

How do I get back to cPanel from Softaculous?

Use the cPanel link or icon in the Softaculous header if it is shown, or use your browser’s Back button. Returning to cPanel does not change or remove any application data, so this is safe to do at any time.

Will opening Softaculous overwrite my site?

Opening Softaculous does not change anything. Overwrites only happen if, during an install, you choose a directory that already contains files and then enable “Overwrite Files”. To avoid that, install to an empty directory or leave “Overwrite Files” disabled. If you use Remove on an existing installation, untick the options to delete the files, database and database user if you want to keep them.
