The shooglenifty.com site is the official website of ‘Acid Croft’ band Shooglenifty, which celebrates more than 30 years on the Scottish music scene. Shooglenifty blends traditional and traditional-sounding melodies with the beats and basslines of more contemporary influences. Their approach has earned them many awards and nominations over the years. The site is maintained by Edinburgh web designer Jane-Ann Purdy. Jane-Ann also designed the WordPress-based website at soundhouse.org.uk for The Soundhouse Organisation.

Jane-Ann uses WordPress because its rich variety of themes and plugins allows her to produce a professional-looking, coherant and attractive site encompassing many different elements, including a shop (where you can buy Shooglenifty CDs, vinyl, T-shirts and other mechandise), biographical details of the band, videos, lyrics, picture gallery and other pages. The WordPress editor lets Jane-Ann choose from a wide range of different elements that she can ‘drop in’ to the site’s pages, without her needing to know any low-level web design code. The Shooglenifty site is ‘lean’ and uses the Enfold theme from Kriesi, a suite of plugins from WooCommerce for the shopping experience, and very few other plugins.
