We’d like to share the news that as of the 16th December 2022, all services provided by Calico Internet Limited have been acquired by web hosting provider Hostworld Internet Limited.

To give you some background, back in March, Campbell McCracken, our technical director, was given the terrible news that he has terminal cancer. Sadly this has meant that he’s had to step back from his role in Calico and this was the catalyst for the business sale. Campbell is currently being well looked after by the team at Ross Memorial Hospital in Dingwall.

Myself and Karen wanted to ensure a high level of service going forward for customers, with a skilled technical team, so we’re delighted that hostworld are going to take the helm and continue our services going forward. We look forward to working with the Calico customer base under the hostworld umbrella, to ensure continuity of the quality services that we pride ourselves on and that you are accustomed to. Effectively it’s business as usual.

So, what does this mean for you, well here are some questions you might like to know the answers to:

Who are hostworld Internet Limited?
Hostworld is a small hosting business which currently offers web hosting and virtual server services in the UK. The existing business has grown steadily over the years through acquisitions and organic growth with the original roots of the business dating back to 1998, just 4 years after Calico was originally founded. The business is owned by Darren Summers who lives in Scotland. Darren feels that their latest acquisition of Calico UK is an excellent fit and look forward to building upon the great work that has led to this point in time through the support given by the Calico team.

Are there any immediate changes?
We’re limiting any immediate changes to those associated with billing, specifically invoices and payment collection.

We will continue to provide continuity of service so customers should expect absolutely no changes or disruption to existing services.
We will be working on making changes and improvements to make new orders and payment collection more efficient. We will inform you of details as we introduce those changes.

Invoice payment changes
Cheques:
For all customers who pay by cheque, please refrain from issuing or posting these as these will be rejected/destroyed and will need to be reissued in Hostworld Internet Limited’s name. We will communicate the new details to concerned customers individually.

Bank transfers:
Please continue to pay due invoices but please use the following bank details with immediate effect:

Credit and Debit card payments:
These can be made online via https://payments.cali.co.uk
We will also start accepting Paypal as a payment method.

DirectDebits:
New DirectDebits mandates will need to be setup with Hostworld Internet Limited. Please DO NOT cancel any existing DirectDebit’s you currently have setup. Existing DirectDebits will still be collected through your existing DirectDebit mandate – this is fine and will still result in your invoice being marked as paid. We will contact you individually to setup the new mandate with Hostworld Internet Limited.
