The WordPress content management system is used by hundreds of our customers for their website design. We thought it might be useful to share why they use it.

The soundhouse.org.uk website was created to highlight the activities of The Soundhouse Organisation, a charitable organisation set up to promote and facilitate live traditional music, mainly in Edinburgh. Until now, Soundhouse has put on live music in houses (hence the name) and other locations but the long term aim is for it to have a live music venue of its own. Soundhouse also boasts its own “all-welcome” community choir. The site is maintained by Jane-Ann Purdy (in who’s home hundreds of the original gigs were housed). Jane-Ann also designed the WordPress-based website for band Shooglenifty at shooglenifty.com.

WordPress’ massive selection of themes and plugins has allowed Jane-Ann to design an attractive and professional-looking site including a diary of events and other informative pages about the organisation and the choir. The wide range of widgets available and the WordPress editor have enabled her to create the site by simply selecting and dropping image or text elements, etc into the web pages. Jane-Ann uses the ‘Theatre WP’ theme from Curly Themes (http://demo.curlythemes.com/) and plugins for contact forms, events scheduling and image sliders, etc.
