We’re recommending that all of our customer who use WordPress also enable a secure SSL certificate for their website. We recently posted an article on our website blog and social media about how Google’s Chrome web browser has started marking web pages as “Not Secure” if

a) they are accessed using HTTP (rather than HTTPS) and
b) it finds password or credit card input fields on them.

Examples of pages affected include member’s login pages, shopping cart customer’s details or login pages and your WordPress Dashboard login page.

Google’s eventual aim is to put up a “Not Secure” warning for *all* pages that are served using HTTP instead of HTTPS regardless of whether or not the page contains sensitive input fields. They also aim to rank https pages higher than http pages in their search results so you should plan to change your site to use HTTPS for all pages as soon as you can.

WordPress themselves will be looking to see which features they have that will benefit from https access and makes them only available if an SSL certificate is installed. See the WordPress news page for further info.
