Many of our customers use the WordPress content management system for their website designs. We asked some of them why they chose this particular system. Here’s what Bruce Kerr of The Forres Highland Games said:
The Forres Highland Games were founded in 1928 with the purpose of promoting local public participation in sport, traditional music, dance and culture. They are held every year in early July, in the magnificent setting of Grant Park, Forres, one of Scotland’s oldest small towns and situated 27 miles northeast of Inverness. The Games offer spectacular displays of Scottish tradition and culture with highland dancing, solo piping, caber tossing and massed pipe bands to name but a few. There is also an abundance of trade and craft stalls to enjoy.
Over the years the local participation has transformed into global participation, with the Games welcoming participants and spectators from the rest of the UK, Europe, North America and Australia. As a result the Games have had to embrace the World Wide Web and create their own Website.
The creation of a website has not only eased the administrative burden on the organisers but in conjunction with other social platforms has increased our marketing profile resulting in an increase in visitors numbers to the event. The website uses the Progressive WordPress Theme from Joi Team to produce a clean-looking feel to the site.
It has also been designed to allow us to offer online ticket sales in the future. It uses the TicketSource Events plugin to power the Tickets page.
