How to send an email via your Android mobile?

This guide shows you how to send emails from Android using either the Gmail app or Webmail in your mobile browser. You'll learn to compose and send messages, add your cPanel mailbox to Gmail, and troubleshoot common issues like failed sends and attachment problems.

Open the Gmail app on your Android, tap Compose, address your message, write it, then tap Send. If you change your mind, tap Undo within a few seconds. If the mailbox is not in the Gmail app yet, add it first using Step 1 below.

Before you start

  • Your mailbox exists in cPanel and you know its password.
  • If you want to use the Gmail app, add the account first. If not, use Webmail in your browser.
  • You have a working mobile data or Wi‑Fi connection.

Step 1: Add your Hostworld mailbox to the Gmail app (if you have not already)

  1. In Gmail, tap your profile picture, choose Add another account, then Other.
  2. Enter your full email address and password. Select IMAP. IMAP keeps mail on the server and is recommended on mobiles. If you must use POP, be aware it can download and remove messages from the server. It also means the only copy of older mail may be on the handset, so removing and re‑adding a POP account can strand or lose it. Copy anything you need off the device, or switch to IMAP, before you change a POP account.
  3. Incoming server: use the server name from cPanel’s Set Up Mail Client page for your mailbox. Security: SSL/TLS. Port: 993 for IMAP (or 995 for POP). Username: your full email address.
  4. Outgoing server (SMTP): tick Require sign‑in. Server: the value from cPanel’s Set Up Mail Client. Port: 465 with SSL/TLS, or 587 with STARTTLS. Do not use port 25, many networks block it.
  5. Finish the prompts and send a test email.

Step 2: Send the email

Gmail app on Android

  1. Open Gmail. If you have more than one account, tap your profile picture and select the correct mailbox so you do not send from the wrong address. Avoid using All inboxes when composing if identities matter.
  2. Tap Compose. Enter recipients in To, and use Cc/Bcc if needed. Add a Subject and write your message. Press and hold in the editor to open formatting options.
  3. To attach files, tap the attachment icon and choose files. Very large attachments can fail on a Hostworld cPanel mailbox because the mail server enforces a maximum message size. On Gmail accounts, big attachments may be converted to Google Drive links automatically.
  4. Tap Send. An Undo bar appears briefly. Tap Undo immediately if you need to cancel.

Webmail in a mobile browser

  1. Go to https://yourdomain:2096. Sign in with your full email address and password.
  2. If you see a certificate warning, use the server hostname shown on the Secure SSL/TLS Settings in cPanel’s Set Up Mail Client for your mailbox instead of mail.yourdomain.
  3. Select Roundcube. Click Compose, write your message, add attachments if needed, then Send. Roundcube saves to Sent by default.

If it does not work

  • Cannot send or mail stays in Outbox: open the Gmail account’s Server settings and confirm SMTP authentication is enabled, the username is your full email address, and the port is 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS). Port 25 will fail on many mobile networks. Also check your connection and that sync/background data is allowed for Gmail.
  • Security or certificate mismatch: in both incoming and outgoing settings, use the exact Secure SSL/TLS server names shown on cPanel’s Set Up Mail Client page for your mailbox rather than mail.yourdomain if your domain does not have a valid mail certificate.
  • Attachment too large: our servers enforce a maximum message size. If you see a “message too big” error, compress files or share via a cloud link. Gmail accounts may switch oversized attachments to Google Drive links, but a Hostworld cPanel mailbox follows the server’s message size limit instead.

If you still cannot send, open a support ticket so we can check the mailbox, server logs and your exact settings: open a support ticket.

Common questions

How do I send an email using Gmail on Android?

Open the Gmail app, tap Compose, enter the recipient address, write your message, and tap Send. An Undo option appears briefly if you need to cancel.

Can I use Webmail to send emails on my Android phone?

Yes. Go to https://yourdomain:2096 in your mobile browser, sign in with your email address and password, select Roundcube, then click Compose to write and send your message.

What IMAP and SMTP settings do I need for Android?

Incoming (IMAP): use your cPanel mail server, port 993 with SSL/TLS. Outgoing (SMTP): same server, port 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS), with sign-in required. Do not use port 25 on mobile networks.

Why does my email stay in the Outbox on Android?

Check that SMTP authentication is enabled, your username is your full email address, and the port is 465 or 587. Confirm your mobile data or Wi-Fi is working and Gmail has permission to sync in the background.

What should I do if my attachment is too large to send?

Compress the files or share them via a cloud link instead. If your mailbox has a size limit, Gmail accounts may automatically convert oversized attachments to Google Drive links, but non-Gmail accounts will follow your provider's limits.
