Calico UK Managing Director, Kirsty Pryer, has been awarded a badge from STEM Learning for having volunteered with schools and youth groups over the 2019 to 2020 academic year.

STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. STEM appreciates the invaluable support they provide to teachers, community leaders and others working with young people. STEM Ambassador Digital Badges recognise volunteers who have made a positive impact by displaying remarkable commitment and enthusiasm to inspiring the next generation with STEM.

The STEM badge was awarded to Kirsty for 30 hours of engagement with children of all ages. Kirsty is very keen to encourage children into IT or computer related subject and ongoing career choices and has given her time and experience whenever possible. This has included mock interviews at Fortrose Academy, robot activities with girl guides and Lego competitions, to name a few activities.

Kirsty says, ‘It’s been fantastic to work with young people over this last year, I’m often bowled over by their enthusiasm! Unfortunately, the lockdown has curtailed further activities for a while, but I’m looking forward to getting back involved with schools and youth groups again soon.’
