Tomorrow, 7th December, is Small Business Saturday for 2019.

On this day you are encouraged to support small businesses. The first ever Small Business Saturday was created back in 2010 in the US and its importance has grown each year. In the UK last year, an estimated £812m spent in small businesses solely on Small Business Saturday.

Supporting small businesses is something that we believe in strongly here at Calico, because we are a small business, and most of our customers are too. And small businesses play such an important role in our local communities and our economy.

For example, did you know that as of March this year:

* There were over 350,000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating in Scotland?
* Scottish SMEs provide an estimated 1.2 million jobs and account for over 99% of all private sector businesses and more than half of private sector employment?
* That SMEs provide 41.5% of private sector turnover?
