The Importance of Updates Kirsty Pryer of Calico UK writes about the importance of keeping software up to date: Most updates from the manufactures contain fixes for security holes in their software. It's important to implement these fixes as soon as possible because hackers will target devices and websites where the holes aren't plugged. This applies to anything connected to the internet, including websites created using third party software (eg: WordPress, Joomla, etc), mobile devices, PCs, routers, webcams, cars, etc. An intrusion could lead to anything from your website being defaced or broken, information being stolen, your device being hijacked and used in an attack against someone else, or you being held to ransom. Most manufactures provide a means of keeping software up to date, so you should investigate as soon as you can. Calico regularly share security news, as well as other hints and tips via their social media pages.
