WordPress is THE most popular website builder around. It’s estimated that there are now over 40 million WordPress sites out there, with 500 new WP sites coming online every day.

Yes, we know that there are lots of other builders available. We love Spanglefish from our neighbours Plexus Media, plus there are SquareSpace, Wix, Weebly and others. We’re happy to link your domain up with any of these. But we wanted to focus on ‘what makes WordPress great?’

So, why would you want to use it? Why are so many people choosing it? In short, “Why WordPress?”

We’ve decide to create a series of blogs to answer these questions and that will feature Calico customers and their websites, giving an introduction to their businesses and very good reasons that they chose to use WordPress. Some may have chosen themselves, some may have a designer who’s preferred tool is WP. But whoever’s created it the result is the same. We’ll be talking about WordPress Themes, Plugins and other features with real life examples of them in action. It also makes a great project for our Foundation Apprentice, Leah Cunningham, to work with us on.

We hope our posts will give some insight into how powerful the software is, some advantages of using it whilst hosting with us here at Calico UK, plus give us an opportunity to showcase our customer and client products and services.

Our 1st #WhyWordPress blog goes live on 5th April, and we’ll be sharing the blogs on here, along with our social media channels on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s over the next couple of months (Follow us on FacebookTwitter & LinkedIn). We’ll link to those blogs from this page as they go out.

If you have a WordPress site with us then you should have received an email from our team asking if you’d like to feature in one of the blogs. We’ve tried to get in touch with any customers with a live (ie not under construction) website. However, if you’ve not heard from us, and would still like to take part, then get in touch.
