WordPress is a website development system that allows you to create, update and maintain a website from your internet browser with little or no web design experience. It allows you to install a site template system, called a theme, along with lots of website functions, known as plugins.  There’s a plugin for almost anything you might want your website to do (eg shopping carts, contact forms, social media integration, blogs etc). Plus WordPress’ new Gutenberg editor makes it easy to add content to your pages, such as headings, text, images, lists, tables and videos.

Here at Calico, we offer WordPress support on our Supercali Linux hosting services and would be happy to provide developmental hosting for you to work on your new site, at no charge, so that you can design something before making it publicly visible.  We want to make things easy for you, so we’d set up the hosting, install the WordPress software, along with a couple of security plugins.  We can get you started with a basic placeholder page if you require (a paragraph of text, a logo and or photo, and your contact details). Plus, when your site is ready to go, add on an SSL certificate so that your site is search engine friendly, and shows as ‘secure’ for your website visitors.

You can then keep your site up to date yourself, as and when the software needs an update or there’s some changes in your business or news to share.

We have packages for WordPress starting from £67 + VAT per annum (including the SSL certificate) and would do a pro-rata adjustment to your subscription if you already have services running with us.
